I. Characters
This site is created as an alternative universe to Spider-Man's lore, meaning it has NOTHING to do with the MCU, SONY films or even the comics. Nonetheless; while we're open to accepting/having ANY Marvel Character.. The thing is, you as the handler, must be able to incorporate them into the SpideyVerse and not just use the character to use them.
II. Characters Established in BROKEN WEBS
After talking to the handler of Spider-Man, we came to the agreement that this is not a origins story, Peter Parker is in his late 20s and has been Spider-Man for a while. Due to that route we've decided to take, it's perfectly fine to pick up a character and have them with prior experience with Spidey or to introduce them fresh. Just let us know on the app so we're able to see where you're coming from.
III. Characters NOT Established in BROKEN WEBS
As noted above, just because one character is 'eh' in the lore [think Rhino, or even Tombstone] doesn't mean they can't be major players. A lot of how the character's success will be dictated by you, the writer and how well you're able to put them across as a player in the game. There is no limit to how you portray them, as long as YOU'RE comfortable with it.
IV. Original Characters [Non-Canon]
The only original characters accepted are NPCs that will be recurring in roleplays. There is of course exceptions to the rule, if you're not sure feel free to DM the admin [Jus] and we can talk about it. When filling out an app for a original character, reply IN the main character thread IE; Norman Osborn would have his criminal enterprise associates [original characters] IN the same app post.
V. "Power-Modding"
The Admin of this site came from a totally different creative writing experience and thus- aren't too big with the whole 'barring of modding.' In my humble opinion, due to the characters being used within this site- getting the character correct in posts shouldn't be too hard. We here consider ourselves an advance writing clique; thus, being able to emulate another's style of writing/perception of the character is actually expected of other writers. If you're not too sure you're getting the character down, make an effort to get with the respective handler and see what needs to be rectified. So no, here at BROKEN WEBS we don't believe in "Power Modding/God Modding." If you need to use a character in reply/intro to get the plot moving, do so.
VI. Joining
Before you post an RP [unless told otherwise] first go through these steps..
• Register your account- change your display name to the character you're writing for then do your character app.
• Once your character app is finished, make sure [Done] is in the subject box.
• Wait until I [The Admin] PMs you, notifying you that your app has been accepted. This won't take long as I'm around- either through mobile [on my phone] or on the site itself.
• Once you get that PM.. START WRITING!
VII. Account Information
To have this as ordered as humanly possible, we kindly ask that your account- your display name? Have it be of the character you're wanting to RP as. To do this.. First, register an account- once you activate it [through eMail] sign-in, then click on "Profile" and look for the "Modify" option. From there, change your display name to the character name.. Whether you want to put 'real name-alias' [IE; Peter Parker - Spider-Man] is strictly up to you.
VIII. Written Reminders
When writing for the character, please remember to keep it logical and error free. What we're asking is while yes, you're allowed liberties with the character, don't take away what makes them special and sabotage them. An example of this would be Morbius no longer becoming [or is] a the living vampire- or Kraven deciding that he no longer is a hunter. As open as we are to improvising and adding a unique touch on the characters, they still have a personality- keep the special parts special.
IX. Posting/Losing Characters
We all go through stuff in life- things happen. If something comes up, leave us a note on the boards so we know that we can keep your character on the side for you. If you're gone for 14 days [2 weeks] with no notice put up, your character will be free'd up for use for someone else. If you reserved a character, you've got a week to get something up for a bio or not the reserve falls out of favor. We want to allow everyone to feel welcomed- part of that is having characters open for them to use- so if you're gonna go off or if you need to step away from the 'net, let us know.. or the character is lost.
